It is very annoying to capture the screen with print-screen and edit the screenshot on paint producing a bulky bmp that has a size of 2mb or more. With screen capture you could capture only images that you want off your screen. And the good news is, It saves your picture as a compressed jpeg file.

Moreover, editing images from webpages on photoshop will be a lot easier. You could grab the specific color used on the original webpage and paste it on your color picker on photoshop. Not only that, you could actually grab any color that you see on screen. Now, you don’t need to guess the color that you want. You just simply right-click the system tray icon of the program and choose Capture Web Color. I don’t have a screenshot of the program since it looks like more of a script that sits on your tray. It just have these menus: Cancel, About, Capture Image, Capture Web Color. The program was made by Mohammad Ahmadi Bidakhvidi.

Get it HERE.

Did you notice? Google’s favicon transformed from a colorful one into a dull gray. The uppercase G was replaced by the lowercase G:

This is the old Google favicon. Each four sides represents a letter with the corresponding letter color on google’s logo.

The new one was just uploaded last week. I thought it was some other website. But hey, I’m looking at Google.

This is my first program in Delphi 2007. This program converts US dollars into Philippine Peso. It is not your ordinary exercise on the computer lab to make a converter. This program hooks unto Yahoo’s server, namely finance.yahoo.com to get the current exchange rate. The process of retrieval happens on startup. As you noticed it doesn’t have a convert button. It acts like a key generator, convert as you type. Well, this program is for the people who keeps dollars on their pockets and waiting for the 50’s again. Get it now!

Preparation:

1. Download AutoitX from Autoit’s Website (Autoit’s ActiveX Control).

2. Copy the AutoitX3.dll to windows/system32 folder

3. Register the DLL using “regsvr32 AutoitX3.dll” on the run dialog box, located at the start menu.

   Set AU3 = New AutoItX3Lib.AutoItX3 'create a new instance
End Sub

Private Sub Test_Click()
' This will run inetcpl.cpl (Internet Options for IE7 NOT IE6) and delete all cookies

I used a text-to-speech reader for this video. This video shows you how to use the “Add a Keyword for this search” on firefox. When visiting your favorite search engine you’ll always probably do the common way of querying your search. Step 1, you’ll be typing the url on the adress bar. Step 2, you’ll query your search and press the go button.

Both of these tasks could be done at the same time. By making your own keyword for a search engine, you could enter your query alongside with it on the address bar . E.g. (g technology), It queries technology on google’s search engine and gives you the results. You could do this on any website that has a search form. Remember your keywords and organize those bookmarks. Happy searching!

Most of us are aware that rapidhsare.com changed their captcha method. Out of 7 characters, you just need to enter four of them. The four characters have cats in them while the 3 have dogs. Here is a screenshot of the said insanity:

Well if you download heaps of files from rapidshare everyday and you’re just a free user, you don’t want to keep on repeating this verification when you fail. It just makes me think that they are forcing people to buy premium accounts. Thank goodness they activated rapidshare happy hours again. I found this program on the net. It is called rapidshare happy hour checker:

You could get it here. Ironically it is uploaded at rapidshare.com. It is very easy to use. The program sits on your system tray and the icon turns green when happy hours is activated. The program is tested and it works only during happy hours.

Do you have important files and just want to hide it from your brothers/sisters. You could buy some stenography software online which does this for you using their GUI interface. Or, simply use the built-in commands in your windows system to accomplish such task. You will not spend any money buying some software or need to be some geek like your neighbor. Just lend me 5 minutes of your time and watch my first video tutorial.

In this video, I would show you the exact steps of hiding your files into a wallpaper. How did this happen? We just need to remember the good old COPY command that’s with DOS for some years. The COPY command has a /B option. This option is used to copy binary files along with our + symbol to combine these two files together. What is a binary file? a binary file is a computer file encoded in binary form.

This looks easy, but did you ever wonder why companies spend time making software to do this? Well, not all file formats are supported by the COPY /B command. In fact, they are only available to binary files. So far, I have tested this with .mp3, .jpg, and the .gif format. However, if you want to add unsupported file types you could always compress these files into a .zip or .rar. Then, It’ll be a binary file which you could add to your picture. Remember, large files need large pictures in order for them to live.

Happy hiding!

The Meralco Foundation Institute is another college that is unknown to Filipino masses. It is located at Ortigas Ave. Extension Pasig City beside the new Medical City Hospital. It was founded November 6, 1973. This school came to my attention when my sister told me of a friend’s friend studying at Meralco. Meralco is known as the largest electricity distributor here in the Philippines and that’s actually what all people know. I was a bit shocked that Meralco owns an institute. They offer technical and agricultural courses especially for the less privileged. I could describe MFI as a low-profile school offering high-class courses. I am not from MFI and I am not endorsing it. It’s just that courses offered at this school looks promising and It was already MFI when I was still void.

I am a computer science student at Far Eastern University - East Asia College. But, I admit that MFI beats EAC when it comes to the courses offered. These are just some of the courses offered at MFI under Information Technology:Digital Imaging with Adobe Photoshop, Enhanced Web Page Designing in HTML and Javascript, Fundamentals of VoIP & Securing and Maintaining VoIP Networks, Network Technology, Object-Oriented Programming in C++, Office 2000, PHP and MySQL Basics, Program Logic Formulation, Programming in C++, SAP Business One ICC, SAP Business One Logistics and Financials, Structure Programming in C++, Administering Windows 2003 Network Infrastructure, Administering Windows 2003 Networks, CCNA Exploration - Accessing the WAN, CCNA Exploration - LAN Switching and Wireless, CCNA Exploration - Networking Fundamentals, CCNA Exploration - Routing Protocols and Concepts, and Fundamentals of Network Security: Router. They also offer specialized courses, the full list can be found here.

You’ll definitely learn all this things in the span of 2 years getting away with your minor subjects like values education and the likes. MFI has a high-profile when it comes to industry. You could get jobs easily when you are an MFI graduate according to Adolf Gumera. Gumera graduated last October 2007 at MFI and is now working at J.Ray Mcdermott, Dubai, U.A.E as a technician of an automatic welding system having 100 dollars starting salary. This is a link to his profile on friendster.

According to the students of MFI, most of them are scholars of the Institute. I don’t have much details about the inside system of the school. But, looking at their small website, I realized that this school should be known to people. They offer high-quality education and is operating for almost 35 years. They also offer agricultural course and industrial courses.

Visit http://www.mfi.org.ph/ for more information.

Social networking sites like Friendster and the likes are the most visited sites here in the Philippines. It is not only famous to the students but also to their professors. While these social sites offer communication for your long lost friends and relatives abroad. Our identity is just a search away on our favorite search engine, Google.

A part of registration is your email and serves as a verification tool for signing up online. During my highschool days, I signed up for countless social sites including Friendster. On our profile, be it private or public, anyone could gather basic information and use it against us. That includes our name, location, hometown, age and our face!

We may enjoy these services, but we are wrecking the joys of our privacy. By simply typing your email online you could have a good number of links your profile. However, it will take time to gather those information and bookmark all the sites that you’ve subscribed. I would like to introduce to you rapleaf.com.

While I was googling my name I saw this site. It indexes all those social networks and gathers all information about you through the use of bots. This is a good evidence that anyone could lookup your email and gather information about you.

This is a screenshot of my own profile at rapleaf. They made this profile and I just realized how careless I am about my privacy. The good news is, Rapleaf.com offers you to manage your privacy while they continue to search all searchable information about you that is available on the internet. With his service, you will not spend your time looking for them one by one and completely clean up all your trails.
